Community Owned Federal Credit Union served and supported the greater Charleston community since 1966. The Credit Union was one (of a few) of the region’s financial institutions established and operated by African-Americans. The organization was founded by South Carolina Afro-American Human Rights leader, Esau Jenkins.

The CO Federal Credit Union closed in 2021.
